Austin College 1 - 4 Southwestern

It was a tough weekend for the team. It is very difficult to come out of the TU/SU weekend with points, but we were confident. Southwestern was a good team and finished their opportunities. We never backed down, and Luis Castillo (Kingwood, TX) was able to find Sam Temple (Paris, TX) in the box. Sam had a great shot into the top corner to tie the game up at 1-1. SU capitalized on a corner kick, and we went into half time down 2-1.

The second half looked hopeful, when Chris Stein (Allen, TX) became a threat. Chris made two great opportunities, one hitting the far post, and another nearly chipping the keeper. We continued to press, but could not find the net again. Our defense was constantly tested. Freshman Johnny Lara (El Paso, TX) played well in the back with Juniors Raif Smith (Houston, TX) and Grant Gibson (Clinton, MS).

We never let the inconsistent officiating affect us during the game. We often find officiating questionable, but Austin College Soccer will always model class whenever we are representing the school, and we are proud of that.

We have a big game against University of Dallas on Thursday, October 9. We will play at UD at 4 00 pm. Hope to see all you fans in support of the team! Go Roos. -Nathan
