This was a very frustrating loss for the team. The boys had a pretty good week of practice leading up to the game. We were all looking forward to getting back on the field again.
However, two early defensive mistakes would see us down 2-0 within the first 5 minutes. The boys responded a little later in the half when Alex Dawson (Spring, TX) found Chris Melton (Sherman, TX) inside the box. Chris put away the header to make the score 2-1. With around 15 minutes to play in the half, poor marking on a corner would allow LeTourneau to increase the lead to 3-1. It would only take us 2 minutes to retaliate. Freshman Linc Kendall (Houston, TX) crossed the ball into the box to freshman Andy Johnson (Tulsa, OK) who beat his man and headed the ball into the back of the net. We would go into halftime down 3-2.
We created a few opportunities in the second half to equalize but could never quite get the ball in the net. Another defensive mishap late in the second half lead to LeTourneau's fourth goal of the game.
One bright spot from the game was the continued strong play from our freshman. Edwin Cole (El Paso, TX) continued to look dangerous at the forward position. Linc Kendall (Houston, TX), Guillermo Allande (El Paso, TX), and Andy Johnson (Tulsa, OK) also had good games. Thanks again to all the fans that come out to support us. We look forward to seeing you again this weekend. GO ROOS!
